This week MyWW asked “What are your intentions for the coming week?” Once we have them we are to share them on Connect. What a great idea! Not only are we delving in and making a plan for the week but we are going to be held accountable, albeit virtually, to see it through. Nelia and I have taken it one step further and have added them to our blog in hopes that it can motivate not only ourselves but our followers. A place to share our accomplishments, our works in progress and yes even our failures to show that this is a journey and even though we will encounter bumps we can pick ourselves back up and keep on trekking.
For me I am going to be keeping it very simple because in
the last few weeks I feel like I have lost the plot. With all the events
happening and the changes to my routine I have gone astray, not eating
properly, not tracking regularly if at all. I am now back to a somewhat regular
routine and it is time to reset the clock, not just talk about it but actually
put things into action. While my ultimate goal remains unchanged I am focusing
on 2 things this week: Walking and Tracking. The intent is to keep incorporating
things into the mix as I go; for example water intake will be next weeks add in
and so on.
I started walking more when I was working from home as a way
to clear my head and get fresh air during the stay at home movement. Mini walks
after lunch and dinner that helped to keep me sane and keep the weight gain
at bay. I am now back to work and have moved to a longer walk in the
evenings only and have come up with a way to challenge myself while
incorporating my favorite past-time ... reading! Audiobooks have not been
something that I embraced before but it is a perfect way for me to get my
steps in. My challenge is to keep walking until the chapter finishes, if the chapters are shorter than it goes to 2 chapters, the idea being that I am walking at least 45
minutes daily. It keeps me focused on something other than how long I’ve been
out and to be honest the time goes by pretty quickly. The caveat is that I can only
listen to the book when I am walking so there is the chance that I will be
walking loop after loop, giggling or muttering to myself, and the neighbors
will start to talk. Oh well it's all in the name of health!
My tracking was the first thing to drop when things went
awry, my eating/snacking increased and my weight-loss plateaued. SURPRISE!
SURPRISE! Now the intent is to track everything , the good, the bad and the
ugly. That sneaky little bite of cake? Track it! The midnight snacks that have
been happening? Yup, in it goes! My thought is that if I see how many points I
am throwing away on empty calories maybe it will help me make healthier
choices.
That’s it! No big earth shattering intentions for me, just
getting back to basics. These are the things that helped me lose the weight
originally so the time is now to refocus and keep the scale pointing in the
right direction.
Who’s with me???
