Going the Distance

I can't believe how fast this month has gone by and how far I have come.

When I accepted this challenge I thought the best I would accomplish would be to hit the set 50kms, and admittedly, even that seemed to hefty goal. Now here on sit on the last day of the month proudly displaying my certificate for the completion of not only 50 kms but an entire 105kms! How terrifically cool is that?! And wonder upon wonder I actually looked forward to my daily excursions!

How did I get here? To be honest it was very helpful to have the support of my friends, shout out to both Nelia and Eleanor, they kept me accountable. My family were my constant cheerleaders and were eager to hear weekly updates on my efforts. That being said I had promised myself that this was the one thing I could control this month, see my post on Self-Control for more on this, on and I would not give up. Work was  chaotic and at home people were getting cabin-fever (read irritable), I could only control so much in those scenarios but walking was something I had total control over. I would put on my headphones, with my current audio book selection on high, and it was just me out in the open air. No interruptions, no complaints, JUST ME, MY BOOK and A PURPOSE.

I am so proud of what both Nelia and I have accomplished and I look forward to new and exciting ways to staying healthy while having fun!

LOOK OUT JUNE!
