Halfway Point Check in for May

Well here I sit on a rainy holiday Monday reflecting on our progress in “Going the Social Distance” campaign and the MyWW group “Let’s Get Moving” for May. Hesitantly both Nelia and I pledged to walk/run 50 kilometres for the month of May in both groups, knowing that this was, perhaps, the kick-start we both needed to get serious about activity. Nelia has always been diligent about her morning workout routines where I need a little more coaxing to get moving but this was something we were both  able to incorporate into our daily routines.

I am so incredibly proud to say that both Nelia and I have already hit the 50kms mark this weekend!!

Nelia's Progress

Nancy's Progress

While I accomplished my 50kms by fast-paced walking, Nelia knocked it out of the park by running for the majority of hers! That is the great thing behind these initiatives, you aren’t competing with anyone but yourself, you go at your own pace and speed. As much as I would love to say that I will soon be running, I know that I am not at that point yet. While I am content to walk and push myself to increase my daily distance each week I know that Nelia is working hard to increase her running tolerance and taking her skills outside, which is quite different from the treadmill.

At the beginning of the month we were each given this colouring page to show our progress and I cannot tell you how satisfying it is to block each kilometre, click here print your own. We are both excited and committed now to have the whole shoe completing filled by May 31st!!

Who’s with us?!
