The Stationery Shop by Marjan Kamali
I ended up choosing the book that introduced me to a part of history that I had only been briefly aware. The world of a young Iranian girl who fell in love during a tumultuous time in Iran's political history. Eventhough this is a work of fiction the author, Iranian herself, peppered many facts of the uproar that was 1950's Iran to give the reader a birds eye view of the times.
I understand that to some the idea of a book with its roots in a politically charged Iran does not say fun reading but I promise that the love story woven into this tale is as sweet as the delicacies described within.
Happy reading all!
